Frequently Asked Questions: many of you seeking a personal trainer in Hackney will have questions before you sign up or even book the taster. Here’s the most frequent with some answers, otherwise feel free to get in touch with Daigo here.

WHERE CAN I TRAIN with YOU?
I can train you in your favourite Hackney park or at your Hackney home in your back-garden, whatever is most convenient for you. I recommend outdoor training as you simply burn more calories and get some Vitamin D (read more on the benefits of outdoor fitness here). The choice is yours.
Park personal training, what if it rains?
Despite the reputation for bad weather in the UK, you’d be surprised how infrequently it affects your outdoor personal training sessions. On average, 1 in 10 sessions needs to be rescheduled due to bad weather and I’m happy to do that free of charge (both me and my equipment don’t like heavy rain too much!). Alternatively, I’m more than happy to push through as I’ll be fully kitted out in waterproofs. Plus, in some Hackney parks such as Victoria Park and Haggerston Park there are terraced areas or bandstands with cover to train under.
What are your COVID-19 Precautions?
The Covid-19 pandemic has affected the way I deliver my PT sessions. My ‘COVID Secure’ processes includes disinfecting all kit after each session; bringing hand sanitiser to each PT session and whilst any social distancing rule is in place (e.g. 2 metres) I respect that distance, placing any kit down before backing off and asking a client to step forward to pick it up. It’s a strange time! Hopefully, things will get back to normal very soon in 2021.
I’m new to fitness, can you still help?
Yes, most definitely. I know how hard it can be to make a first move into fitness which is why I’m here to support and motivate you on your journey. I’ve worked with clients of all fitness level and age backgrounds, read more about my qualifications and experience here. If you don’t know your lunges from your squats or what on earth a ‘suspension trainer’ is, that’s no problem at all, I’m excited to teach you.
How much does it cost?
One of my most frequently asked questions. My full price matrix is online here. In summary, prices range from £59 – £70 per 50 minute session depending on how large a block you book in advance. I take a minimum booking of 10 sessions, meaning both you and I commit to starting and finishing your programme. Ideally, I’d like to book you in your preferred regular slot/s each week so I can guarantee you time in my diary but realise some flexibility may often be required.
Please note, my 30 minute taster session is charged at £30. It’s gives you a chance to get to know me and my workout style before deciding if you’d like to book a block of sessions with me.
What’s your cancellation policy?
As far as I know, we’re the only personal training company in Hackney to offer one grace cancellation for new clients. That means, for new sign ups of 10 sessions or more, we give you one lie-in without charge and no questions asked! After that, our normal cancellation policy kicks in: providing you give us more than 24 hours notice, we’re happy to re-schedule your session to another date and time. Unfortunately, for cancellations less than 24 hours, that booking will come off your block booking ( it’s unlikely we’ll be able to fill that spot once you’ve cancelled at short notice ).
I don’t live in hackney, can you still train me?
If you live within a 1-3 mile radius of Hackney and providing it fits with my schedule, I’m happy to scoot to you, bringing a great workout direct to you. I’m based on Well Street in Hackney (E9) so generally take on clients nearby, including all these East London locations.
What do your clients say about you?
I’ve been lucky to work with some great people across Hackney in the last 13 years. Some are still with me, others have moved on and taken my tips and techniques with them. If you need convincing I’m one of the best personal trainers in Hackney, please take a read of my latest reviews and testimonials on Google, summarised here.
What kind of fitness equipment will I use?
One of the most frequently asked questions at the taster session. It’s really up to you and what you find most fun, but also depends on your goals. At the taster workout and first few sessions I’ll bring a diverse range of fitness equipment so I can see what you ‘love’ or hate. These include, but aren’t limited to, battle ropes, TRX, medicine balls, powerbags, resistance tubes, agility ladders, hurdles, kettlebells and free weights, including a barbell. Check out my Instagram page for examples of kit and workouts I take clients through.
Usually, my clients love explosive stress-relieving exercises such as medicine ball slams into the floor; battle rope swipes; boxing and kicks into the pads. I try to mix up every session to make it different from the last, but still with your overall goal in mind, whether that’s weight loss, toning, rehabilitation, sports specific fitness or strength gains.
I’m pregnant, can i still train with you?
Yes. As the head personal trainer here, I’m fully qualified as a pre and post-natal fitness trainer through the gold standard body in the UK – YMCA Fitness. Whichever trimester you’re in, I can guide you through a safe programme that pushes you to your limits but always stays within the guidelines laid down by the NHS. One of my long-term clients famously trained right up until the birth of their daughter – going into labour was the best excuse I’ve ever heard for missing a training session!
